About Us

The Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic has been in operation for 30 years. Setting up in 1989 when Pierce Hennessy first qualified with a Licentiate and Diploma in Acupuncture.

Pierce initially studied with the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland (AFI) in Milltown, Dublin. As part of this course, Pierce spent three months in Colombo South General Hospital in Sri Lanka. He did many of his clinical hours there under the supervision of a very imminent professor.

This experience, both practically and theoretically, was an amazing addition to his clinical practice. Returning to Ireland in 1989, he has built a very busy and successful practice treating many illnesses - from minor day-to-day colds and coughs and allergies to the more serious conditions, such as arthritis (rheumatoid and osteoarthritis), multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, and many more complex disorders.

These often involve many patterns of disharmony and therefore the experienced practitioner will usually be required to relieve such debilitating conditions. Pierce has studied many courses on dealing with these illnesses specifically.

Pierce has also, in 2002 to 2005, studied and completed a further 3 years work under Prof. Tom Shanahan with the Irish College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ICTCM) and qualified with a licence in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Lic.TCM). This is to add to his original qualifications in the Wu Xing theory and enhance his practice even further.

Pierce also has a special interest in treating women and men who may find it difficult to conceive. With one in six couples now having difficulty in becoming pregnant, it's a very important disharmony, he has learned to address with such rewarding results. His clinic waiting room wall is full of smiling faced pictures of the babies who have arrived with the help of this wonderful treatment.
